Brunilde di Menzione Primitivo Magnum DOC brings together the generous character of Puglian Primitivo with the theatre of a Magnum bottle. Rich black fruit, warming spice and a smooth, rounded texture make it a superb choice for entertaining or larger family gatherings.
The 1.5-litre Magnum contains the equivalent of two standard bottles, making it ideal when serving several guests while also providing an impressive centrepiece for the table.
If you already enjoy Primitivo's ripe fruit and approachable style, this Magnum offers exactly the same generous character in a format that's made for sharing.
Merchant's Tip
If you're serving Primitivo with friends or family, we'd choose the Magnum every time. Everyone gets to share the same bottle, it looks far more impressive on the table, and it adds a sense of occasion without asking your guests to move away from an easy, crowd-pleasing style.
Nose: Generous aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum with warming spice and subtle herbal notes.
Palate: Full-bodied and generous, with ripe black fruit and plum supported by warming spice and smooth tannins. There is enough freshness to keep the rich fruit balanced and approachable.
Finish: Smooth, warming and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, spice and gentle savoury notes.
A Magnum holds 1.5 litres of wine, the equivalent of two standard 75cl bottles. That makes it particularly useful for celebrations, dinner parties and family gatherings where several people can share the same wine.
But practicality is only part of its appeal. A Magnum has considerably more presence on the table than two ordinary bottles, turning an approachable, crowd-friendly Primitivo into something that feels much more like part of the occasion. It also makes an impressive wine gift when a standard bottle doesn't feel quite special enough.
Brunilde di Menzione Primitivo di Manduria DOC is made entirely from Primitivo grown using the traditional Alberello bush-vine system. The grapes are harvested by hand towards the end of August once they have reached optimum ripeness.
After harvest, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of around 33°C for approximately 25 days, helping develop the wine's structure and aromas. The wine then spends around four months in oak barriques, adding gentle spice and complexity while retaining Primitivo's ripe, generous fruit.
The result is a smooth, full-bodied Primitivo with the dark fruit and warmth that make the grape such an easy choice for a larger gathering.
Brunilde Primitivo Magnum is particularly well suited to the sort of food that brings people around a table: grilled steak, roast lamb, barbecue dishes, slow-cooked beef, rich tomato-based pasta, pizza and mature cheeses.
Serve at around 16–18°C. Opening the Magnum around 20–30 minutes before serving will help the fruit and spice become more expressive.

If you're simply opening a bottle for an ordinary evening, a standard 75cl Primitivo will usually make more sense. But when several people are sharing the wine, or the bottle itself is part of the occasion, we'd choose the Magnum.
It gives you two bottles' worth of ripe, smooth Primitivo in a format that feels much more generous and memorable. For celebrations, larger family meals, dinner parties or gifting, that extra theatre is genuinely part of what you're buying.
