Why It Tastes This Way

Bodegas Fabre Phebus Reservado Malbec is produced in Mendoza, Argentina, by Bordeaux-born winemaker Hervé Joyaux Fabre. His approach combines the generous fruit character of Argentine Malbec with the balance and elegance associated with traditional French winemaking.

The wine is made from carefully selected Malbec grapes. A period of cold maceration before fermentation helps extract colour and aromatic character, while controlled fermentation develops the wine's rich dark fruit flavours and underlying structure.

French-oak maturation adds another dimension to the wine, introducing gentle toasted notes and spice that complement its blackberry, plum and cherry character. The interaction between ripe fruit, oak and tannins creates a smooth, rounded Malbec with greater aromatic complexity and a refined texture.

Food Pairing & Serving

Phebus Reservado is particularly well suited to grilled and roasted red meats. Its generous fruit and smooth tannins make it an excellent partner for ribeye steak, roast lamb and traditional Argentine-style barbecued beef.

Its subtle oak spice also complements slow-cooked beef, rich mushroom dishes and mature cheeses. Try it with braised beef or a hearty casserole, where the wine's richness and structure can balance the depth of flavour.

Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Giving the wine some time in the glass will help its fruit, floral and oak aromas develop.
