Bodegas Fabre Phebus Gran Reservado Malbec comes from selected vineyards in Vistalba, within Mendoza's Luján de Cuyo region. This established Malbec-growing area is known for producing wines with generous fruit, concentration and the structure needed to develop complexity through maturation.
Careful vineyard selection and controlled yields help produce grapes with concentrated flavours and balanced ripeness. The winemaking approach of Hervé Joyaux Fabre combines the richness of Argentine Malbec with an emphasis on structure and elegance, drawing on his experience in Bordeaux.
The wine undergoes extended maturation in French oak, adding complexity and helping integrate its tannins. As the wine develops, the interaction between dark fruit, oak and bottle maturation can produce additional savoury and spicy characteristics, contributing to a more layered drinking experience.
Phebus Gran Reservado is particularly well suited to rich, savoury dishes. Its concentrated fruit and structured tannins make it an excellent partner for ribeye steak, roast beef, slow-cooked lamb and venison.
The wine's liquorice, spice and savoury notes also complement mushroom-based dishes, beef casseroles and mature hard cheeses. Try it with slow-braised beef or roast lamb with rosemary, where its depth and structure can match the richness of the food.
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Allowing the wine to open gently in the glass may help reveal its layered aromas. Given its maturity, avoid unnecessarily prolonged decanting without first tasting the wine.
