Viura is the grape variety most used in white Rioja though the blend of the two grape varieties used here brings different things to the table with the Viura imparting bright citrusy flavours and the Malvasia adding weight and balance. With 100 days spent in new American Oak barrels, this is enough to give the wine the weight and those rich vanilla and toast characteristics which are so satisfying.
Milder cheeses work well as do (Caesar) salads and risotto dishes.It will also stand up well to more lightly spiced food, such as Moroccan dishes with cous-cous.
