Tasting Notes
Trapiche Estacion 1883 Malbec is a super-smooth, almost velvety wine, with heavy notes of black berries leading onto dark ripe red fruit, cherries and violets with an underlying light oak.
About
The vines grow in Los Arboles in the Uco Valley, part of the Mendoza region of Argentina. The vineyards were chosen as they have the best terroirs for the Malbec grape able to fully express the character of the grape combining elegance, concentration and complexity.
Organic practices are followed by the growers to preserve all these natural properties of the grape by eliminating the use of chemicals, herbicides and fungicides.
The grapes are hand harvested bunch by bunch to ensure that only the very best fruit is selected.
All the fruit is destemmed followed by fermentation and maceration in small concrete tanks for 25 days at around 23-25ºC. Fermentation is followed by a gentle pneumatic pressing and a natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 15 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels prior to being filtered and bottled.
