A luxurious wine with ultra fine tannins that feels supple and smooth. loaded with fruity flavours of dark berries like plumbs, blackberries and black cherries. The aroma is layered with ripe fruits and a dark chocolate runs through the palate.

The Chocolate Block is made by Boekenhoutskloof, a South African winery based in Franschhoek. It was recently named South Africa’s ‘Winery of the Year’ in 2020.
This wine is probably the biggest name to come out of SA and is made in limited quantities of around 3,000 barrels a year. Not surprisingly Chocolate Block is typically sold out before it even hits the market.
Marc Kent, Boekenhoutskloof's winemaker, is somewhat secretive about the details of how the wine is made, other than that the grape split is Syrah 73%, Grenache 11%, Cinsault 8%, Cabernet Sauvignon 7%, and Viognier 1%.
