Grenache (Garnacha) Wine

Grenache, also known as Garnacha, is a red wine grape that is thought to have originated in Spain and is one of the worlds most widely grown grape varieties.

Grown mostly in France, Spain, Australia and the USA, the biggest area of production is Southern France, especially the Rhone area, where it makes up 80% of the red grapes grown.

A light bright red colour, Grenache has aromas of orange rind, raspberry and strawberry, and as it ages, a little tobacco may come through. To taste it is medium to full bodied, spicy, and berry-flavoured with low acidity and tannins. Again, with age, tar and leather may come through.
