Estacion Bonarda leads on the nose with red cherries and plums. On the palate the red fruits give way to blackberries, vanilla and spices. Opulent with fruit and a juicy flavours, bold and dry.
About
The 1883 in this wines name derives from the year in which the family started the winery. Its been used in both this, a Bonarda, and also in their premium 1883 Malbec wine.
The Bonarda grapes are hand harvested bunch by bunch to ensure only the best fruit is selected. All the fruit is destemmed followed by fermentation and maceration in small concrete tanks for 25 days at around 23-25ºC. Fermentation is followed by a gentle pneumatic pressing and a natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 15 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels before being filtered and bottled.
