About
Iona Wines is a highly regarded estate located in the Elgin Valley of South Africa, an area known for producing some of the country’s most elegant cool-climate wines. The estate is situated at high altitude with strong Atlantic influences, allowing for slow ripening and exceptional aromatic purity.
Winemaking: Grapes are hand-harvested from selected vineyard blocks and fermented with careful extraction to preserve delicacy. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak used to add structure while maintaining finesse and transparency of fruit.
Vineyards: The vineyards are located in the Elgin Valley, one of South Africa’s coolest wine-growing regions, influenced by Atlantic breezes and high elevation. These conditions promote slow ripening, vibrant acidity and finely detailed aromatics in the Pinot Noir grapes.
