Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red with cherry aromas, this is a juicy red which shows red fruits (including cherries) on the palate, which has just the right amount of depth to show its quality and pedigree.
About
With Burgundy widely considered to be the home of great Pinot Noir (or Pinot Nero as is called in Italy), it is a real pleasure to find an Italian pretender, which would shame may of its French Counterparts. Pinot Noir thrives in cooler areas and the high altitude on which the grapes for Ca di Alte are grown are ideal as the hot days are tempered by cool nights. The vineyards are located in the hills south of Vicenza in Northern Italy, about 20 miles west of Venice. Here the terroir as well as the climate are ideal and in the hands of renown winemaker Alberto Marchisio, it is little wonder that this wine is so good.
After harvesting and pressing, the grapes are left to cool soak for 24 hours before fermentation. This helps retain the freshness and purity of the wine. Following fermentation, around 30% of the juice is aged in oak barrels for four to five months before being blended and bottled.

A proper crowd-pleaser, Ca Di Alte Pinot Nero works with so many foods. It's ideal as a lunchtime red and is equally good with chicken, grilled summer vegetables and other bistro-style dishes.
