Negroamaro is a red wine grape variety native to southern Italy. It is grown predominantly in Salento and Apulia and used heavily in blended red wines with Sangiovese or Montepulciano.
Today, the grape is exclusively grown in the Puglia region of Italy.
Negroamaro carries a dark fruits flavour, mostly blackberry, prunes and ripe plums and sweet cherries. It has an earthy back tone and a gently herbaceous finish. It is full bodied and often classed as "rustic".
