Tasting Notes
This is a rich and full-bodied Gimblett Gravels blend. Densely coloured, it has a bouquet of dark cherry, blackberry, dried herbs and cedar from barrel maturation.
About
Esk Valley has come a long way since Sir George Fistonich purchased the historic Glenvale Winery from the Bird Family in 1986. Esk Valley began forging a reputation for its innovative and quality wines. Under winemaker Gordon Russell, Esk Valley broke boundaries introducing new grape varieties and new wine styles to Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
Careful fruit selection combined with quality vineyards and low yields allows the harvesting of those bunches exhibiting purity, ripeness, and fine tannin. The individual parcels were aged separately in French oak barriques for 12 months before blending and bottling.
