Tasting Notes
This Bonarda has a delicious bouquet of fresh dark cherries, crème de cassis and blackberry fruit notes. The palate is soft and juicy, whilst being full and long on the finish.
About
Founded in 1963, Zuccardi is now run by third generation Sebastián Zuccardi. He leads a young team of agricultural engineers and enologists who are in charge of producing the highest quality wines in the Uco Valley. The combination of multiple microclimates, altitudes and soil types creates multiple terroirs which in turn leads to highly original and 'authentic' wines.
Bonarda is the 2nd most grown grape variety in Argentina yet remains relatively unknown. With some of the wine aged in oak barrels, Zucardi's Valles Bonarda is made traditionally with selected yeasts and the wine macerated (left in contact with skins, stalks and seeds after fermentation) for 25 days. This delivers big flavour profiles and makes for more full-bodied, expressive wines.
Ideal with...
Best enjoyed with roast beef or venison, vegetable lasagne or cannelloni. It's pretty good just on its own too.
