Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with aromas of tropical fruits. A fresh and light style of Pinot Grigio, it delivers lovely fruit flavours with crisp apple, lemon and a hint of pineapple. The finish is clean with a soft, lemony acidity and touch of spice.
About
The vision for Sacchetto was that of Sisto Sacchetto who founded the winery in 1920, though it was only during Italy's economic boom years in the 50's and 60's that the winery developed and became a force to reckon with. Sisto's son, Filiberto took the mantle which he is now sharing with his two children, Beatrice and Paolo. With the help of a close knit team and onoelogist and winemaker Guido Vidotto, Sacchetto are today making a superb and diverse range of wines including three different Pinot Grigios, each of which has its own unique characteristics.
Sacchetto Pinot Grigio Venezie Giulia is a step up on an everyday Pinot Grigios and one which we keep coming back to. It has an X-factor, a distinct moreish flavour which makes it so drinkable. Venezie Giulia is actually the region where the wine is from (it's actually Friuli-Venezia Giulia), located at the North-East tip of Italy. It is a beautiful area, steeped in history and one which has been producing wine for centuries and is now known for its high quality white wines.
