Tasting Notes
Akin to a Chateauneuf du Pape, Domaine de la Solitude's Cotes du Rhone has many of its characteristics. Medium to full-bodied with spicy, peppery notes and a smooth palate, it is predominantly red fruit-driven, with fine, dry tannins and a finish of raspberries and cedar wood.
About
We first tried Domaine de la Solitude Cotes du Rhone in a restaurant in Uzes, a beautiful Roman town in Southern France. We were so impressed, we drove immediately to the winery to see if we could import it. Since then, the wine has been one of our best-sellers and with good reason.
Listed by a number of our restaurant clients, it is often chosen as a better-value alternative to Chateauneuf du Pape and indeed, is a step-up on many.
Ideal with...
This is a very versatile red wine. We've tried it with chicken, paella, salmon, barbequed red meats and many more everyday dishes and it works with them all. Because it is such good value and so multifaceted, it's also often chosen for big events (mostly weddings).
