Tasting Notes
Peppers (capsicum) and passion fruit are evident in this richer than average Sauvignon Blanc. The palate also abounds with fresh lemons and other citrus fruits whilst still being restrained and delivering a long, rich finish. There is something about the finish that leaves you wanting more and somehow, the bottle seems to empty itself!
About
Known for its excellent Sauvignon Blancs, New Zealand enjoys great conditions for growing and making many of the other cooler climate wines too, such as Pinot Noir. Angus and Davina Thomson dedicate their lives to producing more individual wines are totally committed to biodynamics, organic farming and giving back to the environment and land that sustains them.
The Urlar Sauvignon Blanc has been our best-selling wine since it landed on our shores seven years ago. So much so that we sometimes try to persuade our regular Urlar drinkers to try something different, such as a Pouilly Fume or Sancerre. This is usually to no avail; as one of our friends said, 'once an Urlar fan, always an Urlar fan'. Try it for yourself and see.

Uber-versatile, you would expect it to be good on its own and it is. A favourite food match of ours is smoked haddock risotto. Other good matches include salmon, sea bass with chorizo, chicken and mushroom pie and roasted vegetables (peppers, courgettes and aubergine) with coriander.
