Urlar winery is located in the Gladstone region's Wairarapa Valley of New Zealand and was recently taken over by Yoichiro Nishi who originated from the Japanese coast of Fukiage-Hama.
Urlar is a Scottish Gaelic word that means the earth. Not surprising then to discover that the original founders of this New Zealand winery originate from Scotland.
It was a family owned vineyard proudly specialising in handcrafted wines. In fact since 2010, Urlar have been a certified organic winemaker and follow Biodynamic practices and all their wines are Vegan friendly. These principles are continued by the current owner.
