Made in Mendoza Malbec delivers exactly what many people want from an everyday Argentine Malbec: generous dark fruit, soft tannins and plenty of flavour without becoming heavy or overly oaky. Blackberry, forest fruits and ripe black plum dominate, with a subtle hint of milk chocolate adding richness to its bright, juicy character.
Made entirely from Malbec grown in high-altitude Mendoza vineyards, it is fermented and matured without oak to keep the fruit firmly centre stage. Smooth, approachable and extremely easy to enjoy, this is a straightforward crowd-pleaser for steak night, a barbecue or simply a relaxed glass of red.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Generous aromas of forest fruits and ripe black plum with darker berry notes and an appealing hint of milk chocolate.
Palate: Bright and juicy rather than heavy, with ripe blackberry and plum flavours at its core. Supple tannins give the wine a smooth, approachable texture while the absence of oak allows its fresh, crunchy fruit character to remain the focus.
Finish: Smooth and moreish, with lingering dark fruit, soft tannins and a gentle chocolate note.
About
Made in Mendoza forms part of the Made In range, a collection of wines selected to showcase recognisable grape varieties in the regions where they have developed a particularly strong identity. Here the focus is firmly on Malbec and Mendoza, presenting the grape in an accessible, fruit-led style that emphasises varietal character rather than oak.
Winemaking: The Malbec grapes are hand harvested early in the morning and quickly transported to the winery to preserve their freshness. After gentle crushing and destemming, fermentation takes place in large temperature-controlled tanks for around ten days, with careful extraction designed to avoid aggressive tannins. The wine subsequently undergoes malolactic fermentation in tank, softening its texture and rounding the finished style without the use of oak.
Vineyards: The Malbec comes from high-altitude vineyards in upper Luján de Cuyo, including Agrelo and Ugarteche, together with sites in the lower Uco Valley. At approximately 800–900 metres above sea level, these vineyards experience Mendoza's dry, semi-desert climate and significant Andean influence, helping the grapes achieve ripe fruit flavours while retaining freshness.
