Don't choose this simply because you want a more expensive Reserva. Choose it when you actively want more concentration and structure. There's plenty of polished oak and mature Rioja character here, but underneath it is a substantial core of fruit and freshness that makes this feel powerful rather than merely mature.

Palate
Full-bodied and layered, with concentrated dark fruit, polished oak and smooth but substantial tannins. Fresh, well-integrated acidity keeps the richness controlled and gives the wine definition through the palate.

Long and persistent, with black fruit, peppery spice and refined oak lingering after the wine's richer flavours begin to fade.
Choose this if you want Reserva to feel powerful and substantial. It has the oak-derived complexity and maturity you'd expect from the category, but its defining qualities are concentration, structure and the way generous dark fruit is balanced by freshness.
If your preference is for a softer, more delicate or primarily mature expression of Rioja, another Reserva may suit you better. Gold Label deliberately makes a stronger statement: it's for the customer who wants depth and intensity while still expecting the wine to remain polished and balanced.
Gold Label is assembled from selected vineyards whose grapes contribute different qualities to the finished wine. Mature Tempranillo provides the principal fruit and structure, Graciano contributes concentration and valuable natural acidity, while old-vine Garnacha adds another layer of richness and character.
That combination helps explain why the wine can be powerful without becoming heavy. Concentrated fruit and firm structure are countered by sufficient freshness, giving the subsequent oak maturation something substantial to work with rather than asking oak alone to create complexity.
Around two years in French and American oak then develops the smoky, spicy, chocolate and coconut character, while further bottle maturation allows those flavours, the fruit and the tannins to become more integrated. The result is a Reserva whose depth comes from vineyard selection, blending and maturation working together.
The wine's concentration and structure make it particularly well suited to richer dishes. Try it with roast or grilled beef, lamb, game, slow-cooked meat, earthy mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses.
Serve at around 16–18°C. Giving it some air before drinking will help the dark fruit, spice and oak-derived complexity open and come together in the glass.
