Iona Wines is a highly regarded estate in South Africa’s Elgin Valley, known for producing some of the country’s most elegant cool-climate wines. The estate focuses on minimal intervention and site-driven expressions of varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Syrah.
Winemaking: Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with careful extraction to preserve finesse and aromatic detail. The wine is matured in French oak barrels, with restrained use of new oak to maintain freshness, spice and vineyard expression.
Vineyards: The vineyards are located in Elgin, where high altitude, cool maritime breezes and long growing seasons allow for slow ripening, producing Syrah with freshness, aromatic complexity and refined structure.
