About

Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by founder Louis-Henry Jadot in 1859. They have carefully striven to establish and maintain the quality of their wines for 160 years through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy. For the past 20 years, they have banished the use of all synthetic products (fertilisers, herbicides etc) on their own vineyard soils and efforts are made to try not to disturb the deep soils which in turn, allows vines to fight disease more naturally and efficiently. Yields are controlled by adaptive pruning and, sometimes, by growing competing grasses between rows of vines planted on deeper, richer soils.

Nuits-Saint-Georges wines are produced on land delimited by the parishes of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Prémeaux-Prissey. The soils are basically composed of limestone and marl. A perfect exposure to the east gives the capacity to produce spectacular wines. That said, Pinot Noir is a difficult variety to cultivate and transform into wine. The grape's tendency to produce tightly packed clusters makes it susceptible to several viticultural hazards, hence it needs to be grown, picked and vinified with great care. This 1er Cru Nuits st Georges is harvested entirely by hand and is vinified in open vats for 3 or 4 weeks. It is then transferred to oak barrels where it is aged in Jadot's cool cellars for 12 months.

Ideal with...

This multi-dimensional wine can be enjoyed with most red meats, beef bourgogne, goat's cheese, other salty cheeses and oven roasted vegetables with a touch of reduced balsamic vinegar.
