Tasting Notes
Goats Do Roam red is bright ruby in colour, with juicy fruits of blackcurrant and plum with a touch of spice on the nose.
Medium to full bodied with good tannins, the palate has generous berry fruit and hints of vanilla spice from the oak.
The finish is soft, with low acidity and a long tapering finish.
About
The wine is from the Western Cape area of South Africa and is made from five gape varieties; 58% Shiraz, 21% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 4% Petit Sirah, 2% Carignan
During the wine making, each grape variety was processed and fermented separately.
The grapes were destemmed and lightly crushed into stainless-steel tanks. The must was inoculated with Rhône yeasts and pump-overs were done up to four times a day during fermentation.
After alcoholic fermentation, the wines were racked to tanks and barrels for malolactic fermentation. It was then matured in a combination of tanks and barrels prior to blending, stabilization and bottling.
