Tasting Notes
Peony and violet-scented, predominantly Sangiovese, it also has 20% Merlot which keeps the tannins gentle and adds soft, plummy characters to the wine.
About
Poliziano began in 1961 when Dino Carletti, moved by a romantic and passionate vision for his native land, acquired the first parcel of 22 hectares. In 1980, Dino passed the reins to his son Federico and the estate has now grown to 170 hectares of vineyards. Firm in his belief of the potential of the area, Federico has, for the last twenty years, concentrated on coaxing the highest expression of this terroir from his wines allowing them to express their individual characters and authenticity.
With harvesting done by hand, fermentation takes place in conical stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for about 8 months with between 20% and 40% aged in oak casks.
