Shiraz, or Syrah as it is known in France is synonymous with the Rhone valley in France where it is the mainstay grape variety of some of the more aristocratic wines such as Chateauneuf du Pape, which this region is known for. Whilst not a Chateauneuf, The Barossan does not hide its light behind a bushel and in many ways, delivers what many Rhone wines do not, namely a freshness and approachability which can sometimes be lacking in its French counterparts. If you are a fan of Rhone wines, try this - you won't be disappointed. Similarly, if you prefer New World wines, this will be right up your street.
