About
Tinpot Hut is a Marlborough-based winery founded by winemaker Fiona Turner, focused on producing characterful, high-quality wines that highlight purity of fruit and regional expression. The winery is named after a remote mustering hut in the hills between the Wairau and Awatere Valleys.
Winemaking: Grapes are sourced from selected low-yielding vineyards in Marlborough, including Blind River and the Omaka Valley. Each parcel is harvested at optimal ripeness, fermented separately in small batches and handled with gentle extraction. A portion is matured in French oak barrels while the rest is kept in stainless steel to preserve fresh fruit character and balance. ([turn0search9])
Vineyards: The vineyards benefit from Marlborough’s cool nights and warm, sunny days, which allow slow, even ripening. This climate preserves natural acidity while developing expressive red fruit flavours and aromatic intensity. ([turn0search0])
