Tasting Notes
Rosso di Montalcino is the lighter, less aged wine from the clone of Sangiovese known as Brunello and this is lovely: concentrated and elegant, with black cherry, blackcurrant and soft-serve vanilla on the nose, with coffee and black fruit in the mouth.
About
The winery's oldest vineyards, planted between 150 and 450 metres (490 - 1475 ft) above sea level. Brunello vines are planted with the cordon spur and doppio capovolto system of training.
This wine is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, the same variety used for Brunello di Montalcino, which are harvested by hand in ten year-old vineyards on the property.
Part of the wine ages for 12 months in medium-sized Allier oak barrels, and the rest in barriques. The wine completes its maturation period in bottles for 6-9 months before it is released.
