Verdejo grapes probably originated in North Africa, and around the 11th centuary were brought into Spain where they have been grown in the Rueda region of Spain for many centuries.
A light bodied wine, Verdejo is a great alternative to Sauvignon blanc or Pinot Grigio. It shares being fruity, very dry and refreshingly acidic. It brings flavors of lime, grapefruit, grass, fennel, and citrus blossom.
Unlike most white wines, it ages well in the bottle and can improve in taste over a few years.
