Tasting Notes
Delicate salmon pink, the initial nose gives a real punch of red fruit aromas. Those most sought after wild strawberry characteristics are very present both on the nose and the palate which also brings raspberries and a hint of cherries. Smooth and really well-balanced, this rosé champagne is a show piece for Taittinger and a benchmark which other Champagne House aspire to.
About
As a family business, Taittinger is run by Pierre-Emmanual Taittinger and his son, Clovis and daughter Vitalie. It is based in Reims and sits above miles of chalk tunnels carved by the Romans. These provide perfect conditions for ageing their champagnes.
Many people wonder why champagne differs so greatly in price between a Grande Marque and a cheap supermarket one. The answer is quite simply that the best grapes make for the best champagnes and the best grapes cost the most. The grapes for Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé come from a number of 'crus', across the champagne district, all of which are famous for their quality. It is a blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier grapes which come from the Marne, L'aube, Montagne de Reims, Bouzy and other highly regarded communes. It is aged for three years in Taittinger's cellars before being released for us to enjoy.
Ideal with...
Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé is often the champagne chosen for weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions and it's easy to see why. It also a great champagne with fruity desserts such as summer pudding and cheese cakes. Surprisingly, it is a really pleasant match too for soft cheeses such as Vignotte, Pont L'Eveque, Chaumes and cream cheeses.
