About
Missed from all of the various Bordeaux classifications, Pomerol is now recognised as one of the leading appellations with the best wine, Chateau Petrus on par with the first growths like Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux, Cheval Blanc, etc. And this is certainly borne out with current prices... anyone who invested in a few of cases of Chateau Petrus 1982 could probably buy a small cottage with the proceeds today. Chateau La Fleur Petrus is often mistaken as the second wine of Chateau Petrus. It is in fact located just across from Petrus and in a good year can outperform Petrus from a lesser vintage. And 1998 was more than a good year, it was an outstanding vintage across all of Bordeaux with Chateau La Fleur Petrus scoring an impressive 94 points from wine critic Robert Parker with a drinking window up to 2035.
Made with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, Chateau La Fleur Petrus is an exceptional fine wine. At less than a tenth of the price of Petrus from this vintage, it is good value too.
