Pampero Blanco is a Venezuelan white rum with considerably more behind it than its clear appearance suggests. Spirits from three different distillation methods are matured in ex-Scotch oak casks before blending and filtration, creating a clean but surprisingly rich style with green apple, banana, creamy fruit, light toffee and vanilla.
Its combination of freshness and underlying richness makes it particularly useful for cocktails: characterful enough to make its presence felt without overwhelming the other ingredients. An excellent choice for Mojitos, Daiquiris and long rum drinks when you want the freshness of white rum with a little more depth and flavour.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh and clean with green apple and banana alongside creamy fruit, subtle confectionery sweetness and light vanilla.
Palate: Light and refreshing but with more richness than its clear appearance suggests. Creamy fruit and green apple are joined by banana, gentle toffee and vanilla, creating a smooth, rounded character that remains fresh enough for mixing.
Finish: Clean and gently warming, with lingering sweet fruit, light toffee and vanilla.

Pampero was founded in Caracas in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández and Luis Toro, becoming an important name in the development of aged Venezuelan rum. Its approach combines Venezuelan sugar-cane molasses and local water with different distillation techniques, oak maturation and careful blending.
Pampero Blanco is unusual among white rums because its clear appearance does not mean it has avoided oak ageing. The component rums are matured in white-oak ex-Scotch casks before being blended and filtered to remove their colour while retaining flavour. Three different distillation methods provide spirits of varying weights, giving the finished rum considerably more depth while preserving the clean character needed for cocktails.
Serving suggestion: An excellent base for a classic Mojito or Daiquiri, where its extra depth adds character without overwhelming the fresh ingredients. It also works particularly well in a Cuba Libre or simply served long with cola and fresh lime.
