Legaris Sauvignon Blanc brings a distinctly Spanish personality to a familiar favourite. Bursting with tropical fruit and fresh herbal aromas, it has the vibrant acidity Sauvignon Blanc drinkers expect, but Rueda adds an appealing mineral character and a little extra breadth on the palate. Fresh, aromatic and immediately enjoyable, it makes a particularly good alternative to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

The fruit comes from mature, high-altitude vineyards and is harvested at night to preserve its freshness. Three months on fine lees gives the wine additional texture and substance, creating a Sauvignon that remains wonderfully refreshing while offering plenty of flavour and character.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Intensely aromatic with tropical fruit and fresh green notes, complemented by a subtle mineral character.

Palate: Fresh and lively yet surprisingly broad and elegant, with juicy tropical fruit, crisp acidity and delicate herbal flavours. Time on the fine lees adds a little extra weight and texture without compromising the wine's refreshing Sauvignon Blanc character.

Finish: Long, clean and persistent, with tropical fruit, fresh herbal notes and a subtle mineral edge returning on the finish.

About

Legaris was created by the Codorníu winemaking family and is best known for its modern approach to Ribera del Duero. Its Rueda wines extend that philosophy to white varieties, combining carefully selected vineyards with modern winemaking to produce expressive, polished wines that retain a clear sense of regional character.

Winemaking: The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested mechanically at night, when cooler temperatures help protect their aromatic freshness. After destemming, they undergo around four hours of cold skin contact at 6°C before pressing. Fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel, followed by approximately three months on the fine lees to increase texture and volume on the palate.

Vineyards: The Sauvignon Blanc comes from vineyards in Valladolid planted more than 20 years ago at an average altitude of around 750 metres. Poor, stony soils known locally as cascajos provide excellent drainage and aeration, while Rueda's continental climate and high elevation help the grapes retain freshness, acidity and aromatic intensity.

Food Pairing

An excellent aperitif and a natural partner for fish and shellfish. Try it with grilled white fish, prawns, seafood pasta, rice dishes and fresh salads, or alongside lightly spiced Asian dishes where its aromatic fruit and refreshing acidity work particularly well.
