Ángeles de Amaren Rioja was created as a tribute to the winemaker’s mother and embodies the estate’s philosophy of crafting expressive, terroir-driven Rioja red wine with precision and care. The winery blends traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to highlight the purity and intensity of Rioja Alavesa fruit.
Vineyards: Ángeles de Amaren Rioja is sourced from old vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, many between 40 and 60 years old. These low-yield vines grow on chalk-limestone and clay soils, producing concentrated, balanced grapes ideal for premium Rioja red wine. All fruit is hand-harvested to ensure exceptional quality and optimal ripeness.
Winemaking: This Rioja wine is crafted from Tempranillo and Graciano, vinified separately to preserve the unique character of each grape. Tempranillo is fermented in concrete tanks to maximise fruit purity, while Graciano ferments in French oak vats to enhance structure and aromatics. Ángeles de Amaren Rioja is then aged for around 16 months in new French and American oak barrels, developing its rich texture, elegant spice and refined tannins.
