Château Treytins is located in the Montagne Saint Émilion appellation, the largest of the satellites of the famous Saint Émilion region. Established in the region, the vineyard sits on gravelly and hillside soils, with average vine age around 25 years. The estate focuses on delivering approachable yet well-crafted Bordeaux right-bank wines, demonstrating the quality that the Montagne Saint Émilion appellation can yield.
Vineyards: The vines for Château Treytins 2016 Montagne Saint Émilion are planted on gravelly and sandy loam soils on a hillside. The vineyard is comprised primarily of Merlot (around 90%) with smaller plantings of Cabernet Franc (8%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2%). The average vine age is approximately 25 years, and yields are restricted through methods including Double Guyot pruning, bud removal, leaf removal and crop thinning to concentrate flavour.
Winemaking: After manual harvest and sorting (including on a vibrating table), the grapes are vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel vats followed by a long maceration phase.
