Louis Tete Brouilly is a light, juicy Beaujolais, loaded with ripe fruit character and aromas of crushed strawberries and forest fruits. Deep ruby red in colour, it releases aromas of red fruits with a slight vegetal trace. It combines roundness with harmony. Well balanced and full-bodied, it possesses remarkable length in the mouth.
Today Louis Tête wines are produced by Agamy cellar masters with respect for the terroirs and its wine making traditions.
About
We have stocked Louis Tête's wines for many years now, not just because they are a highly respected winery in Beaujolais, but more because of the quality and consistency of their wines. They tend to focus on the 'appellations' of Beaujolais, where we find the best terroirs for the region’s Gamay-based wines. With sustainability high in their priorities, they also practice organic and biodynamic methods in their winemaking where possible and never cut corners (the grapes are still harvested by hand).
We first tried Louis Tête Brouilly in the Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh and, whilst we don't often sing the praises of wines from Beaujolais (as they can so often be mediocre), we decided immediately it was a 'must have'. It is a complex, well-structured and refined red wine, alive with red fruits and light spices. With charcuterie, it sings and with the steak tartare that it was served with, it was superb.
