Tasting Notes

Bright ruby colour with delicate, yet intense aromas of sweet spices and dried fruit. The palate follows with dried cherries and plums at the fore and a lovely sweet earthiness and just the right amount of soft, velvety tannins. All in all, a beautifully put-together Barbaresco.

About

The winery was started in 2006 by Luigi Oddero, when he decided to split from the Oderro estate and start his own venture, which he ran with his wife Lena. Luigi has now passed away and the winery is run by Lena and her two children alongside extraordinary winemaker Francesco Versio. The vineyards are wonderful and benefit from sustainable and environmentally responsible management. Herbicides are banned and, where possible, organic methods have been adopted. Before they reach the winery, the grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted in the vineyard and are destemmed before pressing. This attention to detail ensures a superbly clean, high quality wine.

As with most high-quality Italian wine, Luigi Oddero Barbaresco Rombone cries out for food. Try it with roasts and game dishes and Italian cheeses such as Pecorino or Taleggio.
