Azelia Nebbiolo Langhe shows this grape in total purity. Starting from their youngest vines, a mere 20 years old, and by aging in steel, the wine maker, Lorenzo Scavino says you can really taste the individual grapes from the vineyards.
This Italian red wine shows a brilliant and lively colour, with aromas of violet and floral flowers. The palate is juicy and refreshing, with red fruits of cherry, strawberry and currant. The body is light and carries very fine tannins delivering a long, lavishly fruity finish.
Instantly drinkable, and a wonderful delight, Azelia Nebbiolo is a fantastic example of this grape from the heart of the Barolo wine producing region of Langhe in Piedmont.

A historical and small family-run winery founded in 1920 in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langa of Barolo, one of the most extraordinary wine regions in the world
Vineyards: The vineyards cover 2.2 hectares, with the Nebbiolo grapes coming from vines 20 years old. The growing area is Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, in the Langhe sub region of Piedmont. The vines are grown using the Guyot method, and sit 600m in altitude in white calcareous soil.
Winemaking: Made from 100% Nebbiolo, the vinification takes 19 days followed by aging in stainless steel.

Meaty beef pasta dishes, roasted lamb, and of course Spaghetti Bolognese. My own favourite with Azelia's Nebbiolo is a home made beef pie, with rough cuts of fatty beef in a rich gravy.
