Resalte Vendimia Seleccionada is produced by Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel in Ribera del Duero, one of Spain's most respected regions for Tempranillo.
Established in 2000, Bodegas Resalte combines traditional vineyard management with modern winemaking techniques, seeking to express the character of its carefully selected vineyards. The winery is particularly associated with Tempranillo and the distinctive growing conditions of Ribera del Duero.
While the region is often associated with powerful, concentrated reds, Vendimia Seleccionada takes a different approach. Its grapes are selected from high-altitude vineyards specifically for their freshness, aromatic expression and silky tannins.
The result is a wine that retains the depth and character expected of Ribera del Duero while offering a brighter, more approachable drinking experience. It is particularly appealing to customers who enjoy Spanish reds but prefer fruit, freshness and balance over pronounced oak or heavy structure.
Winemaking: Made entirely from Tempranillo grapes, harvested by hand at optimum ripeness and carefully selected on arrival at the winery. Gravity-fed winemaking avoids aggressive pumping, while fermentation at controlled, relatively low temperatures helps preserve fruit and floral aromas and encourages gentle tannin extraction. The wine is matured for approximately 12 months in large 500-litre oak barrels, allowing subtle oak complexity to develop without masking its fresh, high-altitude character.
Vineyards: The grapes are sourced from selected high-altitude plots around Manzanillo, Fuentenebro and Torre de Peñafiel in Ribera del Duero. Situated at elevations of approximately 900 metres and above, these vineyards experience warm days and cool nights, encouraging flavour development while retaining freshness and acidity. Carefully managed yields help achieve balanced ripeness and expressive fruit character.
