Standing out in the Atlantic on the far western edge of Scotland, you’ll find the island home of the Barra distillery.
This distillery reached its popularity on the back of producing one of the best, most creative of Gins, Barra Altlantic Gin, with its use of Carageen seaweed as one of its botanicals.
They have now extended their reach, and delivered an equally interesting dark rum, which also uses Carageen as a botanical. This adds a creamy depth to the drink, along with a seashore feel that almost lends to a sweet salty essence to the flavour profile which is matched perfectly by the brown sugar caramel and coconut.
