Tasting Notes
Golden colour with silvery highlights. The nose is characterized by aromas of citrus fruits (tangerine) as well as by a lovely minerality and subtle floral notes. Soft yet fresh on the palate, there is a well-integrated, subtle acidity which underpins flavours of toasted almond, citrus zest on a refined mineral foundation.
About
The Mâconnais is Burgundy’s most outstanding region, and Pouilly-Fuissé is the most established, high quality wine area within it.
Between Tournus and Mâcon, the Mâconnais region forms a rectangle measuring 750 square with vines that flourish in its warmest areas at altitudes of between 220 and 400 metres.
The Pouilly-Fuissé AOC was created in 1936 and sits within the most southerly tip of Mâconnais.
The grape selection for this wine comes from hillside parcels around the village of Fuissé.
After harvesting the grapes undergo a lengthy pneumatic pressing, with alcoholic fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures of 18 to 20°C, preserving as much fruit as possible.
Malolactic fermentation begins in mid-October using selected bacteria and continues for a full month after which the wine is aged on fine lees for 5 months.
