About
On the border between Rioja and Navarra, Victor Manzanos carries on the work of the four generations before him.
The grapes for this Rioja Tempranillo come from very old bush vines in their own vineyards in La Muga and Los Poyatos.
The wine itself is 95% Tempranillo grape and 5% Garnacha.
Once the best grapes are harvested they undergo slow fermentation in tank at controlled temperatures. The wine is then transferred to barrel, a mixture of a few new American oak, but mostly 2nd and 3rd year barrels of French oak where it is aged for 6 months.
The American oak gives the wine the spice and toast aromas, whilst the French oak is used to promote the evolution of the wine from a bright fruit bomb to something more mellow with a roundness and the unmistakeable stamp of something a little bit special.
