Rallo Bianco Maggiore Grillo captures the sunny character of Sicily while retaining a wonderfully refreshing coastal edge. Grapefruit and citrus mingle with mango, papaya and delicate white flowers, while lively acidity and a distinctive salty minerality prevent the ripe fruit from ever becoming heavy. Fresh, aromatic and full of personality, it is an excellent alternative to more familiar Mediterranean whites.
Made from 100% organically grown Grillo beside the Stagnone salt pans at Marsala, the wine sees no oak, keeping its fruit and maritime character beautifully clear. It's a genuine taste of western Sicily – equally appealing as a refreshing aperitif or alongside seafood.

Finish: Fresh and persistent, with grapefruit, Mediterranean herbs and a distinctive salty, mineral character lingering on the finish.
About
Azienda Agricola Rallo is a historic Sicilian producer based in Marsala, with vineyards across western Sicily. Today the Vesco family places organic viticulture and environmental responsibility at the heart of the estate. Rallo's vineyards are divided between three principal areas: Marsala for Grillo, Alcamo for varieties including Catarratto and Nero d'Avola, and Pantelleria for Zibibbo.
Winemaking: The 100% Grillo grapes are harvested at night to preserve their freshness before gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Rallo works reductively, protecting the juice from oxygen with nitrogen throughout production to retain the grape's aromatic purity. There is no oak ageing, allowing the citrus, tropical fruit and saline character of the Grillo to remain at the forefront.
Vineyards: The organically farmed Grillo comes from Rallo's Piane Liquide vineyards around Marsala and the Stagnone Nature Reserve, close to the famous coastal salt pans. The vineyards lie at low altitude on sandy soils, with the nearby sea exerting an important influence on ripening and contributing to the freshness, aromatic character and distinctive salinity of the finished wine.
Food Pairing
Excellent as an aperitif and a natural partner for seafood, grilled or baked fish and more elaborate fish dishes. Its freshness and savoury character also work beautifully with grilled vegetables, white meats and Sicilian-style fish or vegetable couscous.
