Wow, this is an incredibly luscious merlot with rich dark fruit flavours including cherries, plums/prunes, figs and raisins. There's a touch of liquorice on the toasty, lightly spiced finish.

The Saint Clair Family Estate was founded in 1994 and now extends to 160 hectares in 10 different locations in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. These locations have been chosen specifically for their unique and individual 'terroir' and propensity to yield top quality grapes.

The outstanding fruit for Saint Clair Merlot comes mostly from a single vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels area of Hawkes Bay where free draining, gravel terrain provides perfect conditions for low yielding Merlot. These vineyards have ideal ripening conditions for achieving the ripe berry aromas and flavours and balanced tannin structure that the wine exhibits.
