Medium-full bodied, the nose shows blackberries with a hint of cardamom, followed by flavours of elegant, soft black fruits which merge seamlessly into fine tannins. The overall impression is that this drinks like a far more expensive Bordeaux.

Château Naujan Lapeyrere is situated near Saint Emilion on the right bank of of the Gironde. Little wonder then that it is predominantly Merlot with just 15% Cabernet Sauvignon in the mix.
Enjoying excellent 'terroir', the vineyards are located on a clay/limestone/gravel soil which contributes hugely to this fine, elegant wine. The wine is vinified in stainless steel, a practice which has changed the face of winemaking and has, to a large degree, consigned to history the use of concrete vats which require significant maintenance to produce decent wine. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels to add complexity and additional character to the wine.
