Tasting Notes
Aromatic, clean and bright, this is a fresh, citrus fruit-driven wine with additional notes of pineapple, peach, pear and mango.
About
A blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Grenache, Les Vignes de L'Eglise wines are made by the Cave de Pomérols Co-operative in Southern France, just north of Montpellier. With around 350 growers contracted to the co-op, this is an important producer with more than half of the production given to white wines and the rest split pretty much evenly between red and rosé.
Vermentino used to be found primarily in Italian wine, though more recently, the grapes grown in the Languedoc-Roussillon and other parts of Southern France have shown exceptional quality and the resultant wines are outstanding. To ensure the best wine possible, Les Vignes de L'Eglise Vermentino is made just from the first pressing and is fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks.
