In the glass, the wine shows a colour of deep ruby red almost bordering on black. The nose is complex with blackberries, mulberries and raspberries and with a nutty aroma and a hint of vanilla from oak ageing.
On the palate it is ripe and full bodied, with well-balanced sweet tannins providing structure and elegance. The ripe berry fruit flavours and nutty characters carry on throughout the long and persistent finish

Grapes for the Caballero de la Cepa wines are picked from the Barrancas region in southern Maipú, Mendoza. The vineyards sit at high altitudes, meaning that there are large temperature differences between day and night. This extends the growing season and helps to retain freshness and finesse in the wines.
The hand-picked Syrah grapes are fermented over a period of nine days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in American oak for 10 months, followed by a further six months in the bottle.
