Condition
Excellent with level into the neck. This is our last bottle and sadly the label is damaged as shown, though the '79 is still legible and, more importantly, the fill level on this bottle is excellent.
About
Made by Château Gombaude Guillot, Clos Plince occupies just 2.84 acres in a single block of land which neighbours Château Le Pin. Hand-harvested with a tiny production of around 6,000 bottles, it has never reached the iconic status of Le Pin, despite 1979 being the first vintage of Le Pin.
The wine is typically made up of a blend of predominantly Merlot with approximately 20% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand-picked with each variety harvested at different times, based on the ripeness of the fruit, this is a carefully made wine.
Our Views
This winery sits at the heart of one of the most iconic areas in the wine world, Pomerol. With Château Petrus 1979 costing around 20 times this price and Le Pin 1979 an eye-watering 40 times, Clos Plince is a great buy!
