Founded in the early 19th century, Ascheri's philosophy is one of continual improvement, innovation and sustainability. Even it its early years, the winery stood out as a pioneer for new techniques with records of the 'Ascheri' vine cultivation method dating back to then. Their philosophy of non-intervention involves a moderate use of technology with aging in large casks in order to maximise the expression of the grapes and vineyards from which they come, as well as the skill of the winemaker.
Tasting Note: The wine opens to dried cherries and blackberries with balanced background tones of spice, leather and truffles. These ethereal tones add to the elegance and depth of the wine which is rich and fragrant, heady with sweet spice and leather and a delicious chewiness. Ideal for heavier dishes such as game and mushroom dishes. With Robert Parker scoring the 2016 vintage an impressive 92 points, this wine can be cellared up to 2035.
