About
Greywacke was founded by Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough’s most influential winemakers and the original winemaker at Cloudy Bay. The winery is named after New Zealand’s distinctive greywacke stone and focuses on producing expressive, terroir-driven wines from Marlborough.
Winemaking: Fruit is harvested during the cool of the night to preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Most of the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks, while a small proportion undergoes wild fermentation to add texture and complexity. The wine is aged briefly on lees before bottling.
Vineyards: Grapes are sourced from selected vineyards across Marlborough’s Southern Valleys and Wairau Plains. The cool climate, abundant sunshine and free-draining gravel soils create wines with intense aromatics, vibrant acidity and purity of fruit.
