About
Michele Chiarlo is one of Piedmont’s most acclaimed wineries, founded in 1956 and renowned for producing terroir-driven wines from the Langhe and Monferrato. The estate is particularly respected for its Barolo wines, which combine traditional character with precision and elegance.
Winemaking: Nebbiolo grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with extended skin contact to extract colour, flavour and structure. The wine is then matured in large oak casks for an extended period, allowing the tannins to soften and the complex aromas of Barolo to develop fully.
Vineyards: The grapes are sourced from selected vineyard sites across the Barolo zone, particularly those with Tortonian marl soils. These ancient marine sediments are known for producing Barolos with aromatic finesse, elegance and approachable tannin structure while maintaining excellent ageing potential.
