Tasting Notes
Dark red with glints of rubies, this is a velvety, rich red wine which shows ripe plums, sweet spices and dark chocolate on the nose and palate, which shows a real concentration of dried cherries. This sits on well-structured tannins and finishes with more dark chocolate and raisins.
About
Amarone is considered the greatest wine in Italy's northeast. Grapes are grown in the Valpantena, an area known locally as the Valley of God because of its superb growing conditions for these iconic wines. Cantina Valpantena chooses sites with poorer soil quality as this results in more concentrated fruit, sacrificing quantity for quality as this results in a much smaller crop of better wine grapes than in more fertile conditions.
Following harvest, the grapes for Falasco Amarone are dried for at least four months, losing around 40% of their moisture. They are then pressed into an intense and powerful juice and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for two years before being bottled.

From barbeques to fine dining to a drink with friends, this wine just works. It's no shrinking voilet and will complement the most powerful meat dishes as well as spicy food, roasted vegetables and rich tomato sauces. It is also pretty good with dark chocolate!
